BSNL and Airtel are going to bring 5G technology with the help from Nokia in India. Nokia had announced partnerships with Airtel and BSNL. Now the company has signed MOUs with both companies for bringing this new technology to India.
Nokia will work with BSNL “To accelerate the development of a 5G ecosystem,” and will look for “extreme high-speed wireless broadband with ultra-low-latency.” The 5G network will support Internet of Things (IoT) as well as future smart cities.
BSNL and Nokia are going to conduct Joint 5G demonstrations across the country.
Talking about this development, Sanjay Malik, head of India Market, Nokia had stated, “In line with the Indian Government’s thrust to boost the digital infrastructure to enhance economic growth, Nokia is delighted to partner with BSNL in the development of 5G ecosystem for the Indian market. We will leverage our global experience in 5G-related industry projects and collaborations to enable BSNL to evolve their networks for the programmable world.”
Companies will bring 5G networks for the commercial purpose in India. They will bring this technology in 2018-2020. Currently, they will conduct testing for field content and application in India.
To see how 5G network will work in India, Nokia will start the experiment center in their research and development center placed in Bengaluru.
Samsung, Reliance Jio, and Huawei are also investing in bringing 5G network. So, there will be a tough competition between these giant companies, regarding the upcoming network in the future.
